When prioritizing global edits over local edits you take a look at the big picture. This means ignoring grammar and spelling and looking at the thoughts and meat of the essay. Spelling and grammar can always be changed later but big picture edits are looking at the entirety of the paper this is changing or looking at the actual ideas within the paper. Looking at if it flows, relates to back to the thesis creates more generalized edits and can help put an essay back on track. The essays I reviewed were very different so looking at the different takes they had on one topic was refreshing. Both essays including similar main ideas but different takes on why metaphors are used in everyday life. Global edits are big picture, these can be hard to make because editing a paper is telling someone you think they should change what they wrote, but it helps develop their work. This can be rearranging ideas or thoughts, looking at how the ideas are presented and looking at what the writer intended. Making this reviews and letting the writer know what they could change to make their work better not only helps to develop their future work.
